God calls ministers to equip the Church for the work of the ministry. After many years of working in one local church, I experienced what I’ll call an ‘enlargement’ of my view of God’s calling. In preparing mission volunteers for work overseas, we equip the domestic church to do a better job of reaching its own community ed-italia.com. The mission volunteer teams then equip the foreign church to better reach its community for Christ. In both cases, the church is equipped. And, God is glorified through changed lives on the mission field, in volunteer mission teams, and in the domestic church!
The ‘centerpiece’ of my work through EquipUs is the Pastor Training Schools. This began in the city of Barahona, Dominican Republic. We teach 70-85 pastors and our approach is to “Entrust the Gospel to faithful men who will, in turn, entrust it to others.” God has blessed this work and the pastors have been faithful in implementing what they have been taught. Evidence of this is the increase in baptisms among these 50+ churches after one year of work with the pastors: an average of 44%! Currently, the churches are showing an average annual growth rate of 18.5% via baptisms. I believe our Prayer Teams are the first ones responsible for these results. God has answered through American pastors who volunteer to teach, and mission volunteer members who do construction work, medical clinics, sports camps, or any of several mission/evangelism outreach projects concurrent with our Pastor Training Schools. As Henry Blackaby said in Experiencing God, “See what God is doing and join Him in it.” YOU can make an eternal difference in someone’s life.

Encouragement: You Have the Very Best
When was the last time the heavens seemed to be as brass? Did you need encouragement? You prayed, you cried out, and it all seemed to fall flat. Worse, you begged God to speak a fresh word to you and all you heard was the crickets chirping. I have some encouragement...
Pleasure: Phantasm, Pursuit, or Paradigm?
Pleasure: sought by everyone but found by few. Why is that? Is pleasure always a fleeting thing? Does pleasure ever really last? While I'm at it, isn't abstaining from pleasure a Christian virtue? Few people find pleasure because it is most often a phantasm, a ghost,...

Prayer for Dummies (like me!)
'Prayer is simply a two-way conversation between you and God.' That's a simple but profound quote left to us by Billy Graham. But prayer seems to be the subject of a great many questions. How come? If you have questions, don't feel bad. You're in good company! The...
15 Helps for Powerful Living
Let Us Run the Race The writer of Hebrews penned those words we know so well: Therefore, since we have so great a cloud of witnesses surrounding us, let us also lay aside every encumbrance and the sin which so easily entangles us, and let us run with endurance the...
Infinite Joy
Do we want joy or unhappiness? Dumb question? We anticipate times of joy and celebration. We even long for them. It should be encouraging to know infinite joy has always been God's plan. And it still is! This post is a little 'academic' but that can be good! So stay...
Message In A…Manger?
The message is in the details! This series began with a reminder of the Trivial Pursuit game. And we’ve begun to unpack the huge lessons in what may seem like the trivial details of Scripture. Another example I won’t deal with here is the shortest verse in the Bible....
Christmas Manger: Trivial Pursuit – NOT What You Think!
The manger of Christmas... It's an awesome revelation. But like many things in Scripture, we have heard it and read it until we no longer have a sense of awe much less any curiosity. That’s unfortunate. And this series of posts is my attempt to give you two Christmas...
A Mission Moment
What is a mission moment? Do we only experience a mission moment if we are a volunteer on a mission team? This featured image was a mission moment for me. But the reason is probably not what you think! And in light of launching this new website, I thought this was a...
Tale Of The Nail – And Other ‘Small’ Things
For Want Of A Nail is a famous proverb. It's point (pardon the pun) is overlooking small things can have very large consequences. And that's true for many aspects of life. So why are we so prone to utter the same line as the nail in my picture? And what does this...
Missions – 7 Reasons to Never Go!
Missions is not usually a humorous subject - unless you're reading something by a good satirist! And I love good satire. I visit the Babylon Bee fairly often for that reason. With that said, I did a web search that turned up several very good posts on missions. I do...
Making Better People
Did you ever wonder why the Lord requires some things? We question His methods because we don't understand them. Think about giving. God owns the cattle on a thousand hills as well as the thousand hills! The earth is His and the fullness thereof, (Psalm 24:1). So why...
